Here’s a unconventional leadership challenge to try today:
Ask for help.
Why is asking for help a leadership practice?
✅ Avoiding perfectionism
I used to worry about getting just the right tone or clearest phrasing when making a request – and in the end I’d never do it! Now I realize it’s better to take action than to be precise.
✅ Interdependence not independence
“I can do this on my own” is a common mindset when we’ve relied so much on our own skills for success. On the contrary, asking is one of the most powerful moves you can make, since it creates new possibilities.
✅ Making connections
Asking is also one of the best ways to build relationships with others. When I moved into a leadership role, I did more asking, not less.
Asking may take practice, and a shift in mindset.
So go ahead and try. My ask 😉 is that you share about it in the comments.
