Scientific Leadership Coaching for Biopharma Organizations

What if you could have the eyes and ears of a seasoned biotech executive who works with you to train and coach your employees to higher productivity and engagement?

And what if that person had themselves been a scientist, had made the transition from the academic to the business world, and who deeply understood both the strengths and the blind spots of scientific/technical training?

I'm Rachel Kindt, Ph.D.

I come from 20+ years in the global biotech/pharma industry building high-functioning organizations from the ground up. Now, I use my experience, intuition, and coaching training to guide technical and scientific organizations to make the most of their scientific talent.

I have learned a lot about what makes a strong organization and allows the individuals within it to be productive and thrive. What is the secret?

It’s focusing on all the areas that we tend to discount in our technical training - collaboration, communication, and organizational awareness - and to do so in a way that supports the organization’s technical expertise and strategic goals.

Rachel Kindt - Scientific Leadership Coaching

Your company may be facing:

  • A new leader (including the CEO and CSO) whose role stretches them beyond their training and experience

  • Scientists who are incredibly smart, technically excellent but don’t yet know how to manage people or participate in or lead a cross-functional team

  • The (ever present!) need to effectively communicate data to non-experts

    Personalized scientific leadership coaching

Are there high-potential scientists in your organization who would benefit from a boost to get to the next level?

Maybe a new leader who is unfamiliar with roles that involve people and process as well as data?

Scientific leadership coaching can help them tap into their potential in non-technical areas, becoming more effective managers, team leaders, and cross-functional collaborators.

    Small group learning sessions

You may be aware of areas for growth and development across your organization, or across your cohort of high-potential future leaders.

Many scientific organizations benefit from training in communication to non-experts, collaboration across functional areas, and leading teams. I offer tailored learning sessions for large or small groups to work on these skills, and many others.

Because I understand the typical mindset of a scientist, and I take the time to explain the “why” of the topics as well as just the skills, these sessions are approachable and enjoyable, even for technical experts who are unenthusiastic about training.

    Start off with an evaluation

Any coaching or training engagement can begin with an assessment of the organization’s strengths and areas for growth. Through interviewing and observation of team dynamics (such as a leadership team) I can recommend what coaching topics and training areas to prioritize.

These offerings can be combined:  start with an evaluation, identify a cohort for scientific leadership coaching, and plan training to cover topics that would benefit multiple participants.

All offerings can be done remotely, with the option for San Francisco Bay Area clients for in person.

FAQ

Many coaches and trainers do not have the technical knowledge and experience in business roles that I have. This knowledge and experience allows me to quickly grasp the objectives of your business and to relate to what scientists and other technical experts face.
